"It's like thunder... Lightning!"

Hello hello,

I apologize for taking a little while to post again. A girl's gotta work.

I know I said I was going to write a post on the setting of Final Fantasy XIII - Cocoon. I still want to talk about FFXIII but more in the direction of a mini review. It's my blog, so I can do what I want suckas.

Let me say first off I'm not very far in the game. I think I'm right around Chapter 2 or 3. The most obvious feature of this game is the graphics. It's kind of ridiculous how amazing the game looks. The battle system is pretty interesting. It was easy for me to pick up (which definitely says a lot since I'm used to more traditional systems) and the whole flow moves really quickly.

What I really want to talk about, though, is the experience of the game in general. I would really love some other opinions on my opinion, because FFXIII doesn't really feel like a Final Fantasy game to me. It's like I'm playing an action/adventure game rather than an RPG. All I've been doing is running through the same scenery with zero interaction, fighting every 20 steps and watching cut scenes every five minutes.I am just not connecting with the game at all. Action/adventure games like Devil May Cry or Castlevania are super fun but the stories don't stay with you for years to come. Maybe I sound a little too attached, but I love RPGs for the feeling they give you.

Everyone keeps telling me that FFXIII gets seriously good toward Chapter 10, but it seems like such a long time to wait. Can't I just talk to some NPCs in the mean time? Will I ever be able to explore an actual town or city? I need something to keep me going!

All I wish is that the developers focused a little LESS on the battle system. It seems as if they put so much of their energy into the system and neglected the little details that make a RPG spectacular.

What do you guys think? Am I just too critical? Let me know!

I will post again as soon as I can :)

Love,
The Girl Informer
