Bio

Hello there!

I'm Sarah Conde, Summa Cum Laude graduate from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications and current master's candidate at Kennesaw State University. I've been a gamer since my dad bought me FFVII and subsequently erased my save file. An individual learns true dedication once she loses sixty hours of gameplay. Needless to say, I beat the game anyway (on my first attempt, too!).

At UF, I studied public relations with a special focus on public interest communications and interactive media. Basically, I took advantage of every opportunity to conduct research on the game industry, including topics such as gender roles, major publishers and alternate reality gaming. During my studies, I interned at several local Gainesville startups including music service Grooveshark and web design company 352 Media Group. In 2012, I finished up an internship at Trendy Entertainment in promotion and media relations for Dungeon Defenders, an action RPG/tower defense game.

I am currently attending KSU as part of the 2014 cohort for the M.A. in Integrated Global Communication. My research has analyzed effective brand management in the game industry with a specific focus on the role of gender representation in building fan engagement. I've also studied the Japanese video game market in order to develop a deeper understanding of how cultural differences potentially affect product success on an international scale. This past summer, I lived in Niigata, Japan as a marketing intern for tsugi, a software developer that specializes in smart tools and technologies for a variety of creative clients including Sony, Microsoft and Insomniac. While finishing up my final semester of graduate school, I am on the hunt for my place in the industry. Wish me luck!

In my free time, I enjoy watching anime with my boyfriend and three cats (yes, we are crazy cat people), while attending and cosplaying at as many conventions as financially possible. Currently, I'm playing Tales of the Abyss 3D (3DS), and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3).
